Astronomy in Art: From the Renaissance to the Present Day (L'astronomie dans l'art de la renaissance à nos jours)

Since antiquity, artists, valuable witnesses of the time reflected astronomy in their works. In Galileo’s scientific sketches, Mellan’s engravings, other later paintings and creations of contemporary artists were drawn of satellites, heavens, planets, comets, asteroids; all of these works capture the eternal human endeavour to comprehend Space. Alexis Drahos, a PhD candidate in art history co-operated with the Sorbonne University, he is an expert on nineteenth-century painting.
