Caucasian Atlantis. 300 Years of War

Iakov Gordin

The Russo-Caucasian drama is one of the bitterest events in Russian history. The cruel war, whose origins go back to the time of the Persian Campaign of Peter the Great in 1722, lasted sixty years in the 19th century, and it largely affected the fate of Russia. The book deals with the obvious and also the underlying causes of the longest war in Russian history, which has not ended to this day. Iakov Gordin also writes about the paradoxical relationship between “Russian Caucasians”, people of peculiar nature and “Caucasian Mountaineers”, who were generated by this war and were dragged into tragedy.
